The violin is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity by Jean-Jacques Rampal , 11 rue Portallis, Paris.  The back is of two pieces of maple, almost without figure.  The back is branded at the top: Chappyuy a' Paris.  The table is of two pieces of spruce of irregular grain.  The ribs are of maple of narrow flame.  The head is an eighteenth century replacement by Lafille, of plain maple.  The varnish is gold-brown.  The corpus length is 360mm.  This violin is in very good state of preservation.
