Description
Up for auction, a beautiful 1945 H.N. WHITE - KING - CLEVELAND, OHIO - "LIBERTY"  BALANCED MODEL 1045 - MEDIUM BORE PROFESSIONAL Bb/A TRUMPET WITH A RAW HAND POLISHED FINISH IN NEAR MINT CONDITION I've been playing horns for 52 years, collecting and restoring them for 41 years.  Over those years I put together a nationally recognized trumpet/ cornet collection that topped out at 145 horns.  During the past three years I have substantially thinned out the herd and continue to do so.  All my horns are gig ready...cleaned, valves adjusted & aligned and with new corks & felts when necessary. Here's a wonderful example of a medium bore (.448") Liberty Balanced 1045 model...a beautifully preserved, 63 year old original time capsule that is straight with no dents, dings nor repairs.  The Liberty models were produced from 1923-65 and were Henderson White's favorite trumpets.  The .448" medium bore models were the 1050, 1050 No. 2, and the 1045 balanced model.  This third version Liberty had its valve block moved forward, thus making for a more balanced horn that is a pleasure to hold for prolonged sessions.  Liberty's in their various versions were played by artists such as Buck Clayton, Fred & Evelyn Elias, Ziggy Elman, Frank Iannone, Harry James and Joe Manone to mention just a few.  They make wonderful lead/solo horns and are comfortable with most music styles, but really shine as a jazz horn with a compact, focused tone.  Liberty's can produce a rich and varied tone, ranging from a smooth velvety softness to a bell-like brilliance.  Additionally, the 1045 is a Bb/A convertible trumpet...the 3 valve slides are scored for correct "A" pitch intonation when the rear tuning slide is pulled all the way out...the forward tuning slide is then used to fine tune the pitch.  This trumpet had its lacquer removed and was then hand polished to a high luster...no mechanical devices were used in the polishing process.  The bell engraving remains sharp and deep.  Many of the horns in my collection had their lacquer removed as I have always preferred the tonality of raw brass.  Lacquer is a resilient medium that dampens the natural vibrations and overtones of the brass, thus altering resonance.  It is applied by manufacturers as a convenience to keep their instruments looking shiny, but in my humble opinion causes more trouble than it is worth. This 1045 is in excellent mechanical condition.  All SIX slides operate smoothly and the bottom sprung valves are bright and shiny, without pitting nor staining...the valve slides produce a nice "pop" when pulled.  Cosmetically, the horn has only one minor issue; the bell tube has some minuscule ripples & waves more than likely caused by past ding removal...nothing really noticeable, but when you sight down the tube, it isn't perfectly smooth (the photos are your best info).  That's it...aside from some very tiny pings/marks that don't photograph well, the rest of the horn is flawless.  I tend to be overly critical and as accurate as possible when describing my horns, so that no one receives any "surprises".  The horn slots superbly in all registers and has wonderful intonation.  Enough said...I won't waste your time with any more superlatives...I'll just list the specifications and let the photos do the rest of the talking. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE OTHER HORNS I HAVE LISTED USPS REGULATIONS PROHIBIT THE SHIPMENT OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS OR THEIR PARTS TO ITALY.  SORRY, BUT ITALIAN BIDS WILL BE CANCELED. Shipping is a flat fee of $25. to the 48 continental states.  Alaska and Hawaii require more postage.  I will ship worldwide (email me for postage rates).  I accept PAYPAL ONLY.  Payment must be received within 7 days or the item will be re-listed. This item is being sold "As is"...no returns nor refunds will be offered unless I have somehow misrepresented the item.  I do my very best to be as accurate as humanly possible in my descriptions.  I am not an instrument dealer...just a musician and collector.  However, bid with confidence since I still maintain a 100% positive feedback rating.
