Description
Up For Bids is my 1916 Steinway Duo-Art Upright Player Piano, serial number 166947, with it's original "steamboat" pump.  The following list contains everything that Roger Puls of Parma, Ohio, did to the piano back in 2001. Buff and polish hardware Rebuild Duo-Art reproduction system complete. Refinish case in natural color Install new case felt and rubber buttons. Plate piano pedals in nickel. Replace missing veneer (ribbon mahogany)   Piano work:   Install new hammers and dampers Install new bass strings - tune and voice same, Regulate piano action Go over key tops   Since the work was done and the piano returned to me, there have been less than 150 rolls played on this wonderful old instrument.     You can also switch off the Duo-Art and use it as a Metrostyle-Themodist-Temponamic piano, using the pointer and the controls, for those of you who like to "play" their piano.   I am going to be moving as soon as my house sells, and I will have no room for this piano when I go.     * Update November 24, 2008 *   Now there are close to 300 people who have looked at the auction, and 18 who  are "watching this auction", yet not one email with a counteroffer!  If anyone has an interest....drop me an email at wbeesdad@yahoo.com      I really need to do something with this piano! Also, 100 of the Duo-Art rolls mentioned below have already been won in other auctions, leaving 172 still available.   I will be glad to help with any shipping arrangements that you, the buyer makes......but I won't personally do the shipping. You can always come and pick it up, I've got a strong back and would be glad to help, if that is the case. The piano is in the front room on the first floor, which makes for a very easy and convenient move. (Truck can back right up to the front porch) I will tell you right up front, the starting price is less than 2/3 of what I have invested in this piano, so my loss could be your gain! I also have 2 roll cabinets (pictured above beside the piano) and another double wide one, that could be purchased reasonably, if your interested.( I will entertain offers, so don't be shy.....they need to go too!)  Since some of you have asked, here are the descriptions: There are 3 of them, smaller one that is on the left in the pictures is red ribbon mahogany, 38.5" high, 18" wide, 16" deep with 8 shelves will hold 40 large rolls. Second one (on right in pictures) is a browner tone in color (not mahogany-stained poplar, maybe) and is 45" high, 22" wide, and 16" deep. It has 10 shelves which will hold 70 large or 80+ small rolls. It has a decal on the inside of the door "Herzog Art Furniture Co. Saginaw, MI USA" I don't have a key for this one and the door, although it doesn't appear warped sets in a little further on the top left than the bottom left does when closed. Not bad, maybe 1/4" First two mentioned you could move in, wipe off, and fill with rolls, nothing wrong with the finishes, at least to my eye. Third cabinet, is a double wide, 2 door, elevated "Udell - Indianoplis" 38 1/2" high, 41 1/2" wide, and 14" deep. it has 7 shelves on each side, (5 which have been replaced on the left side) which will hold 126 small rolls. The legs on each side look similar to musical lyres and there is a stretcher between them. Although the inside is pretty nice, the outside could use some attention. Probably a can of furniture refinisher would take care of the crazing in the finish, and then a couple of good coats of tung oil would do wonders. If it doesn't sell, I just might keep it because it's kinda different. I'm in snowy northeastern Ohio, and don't have any idea about shipping costs,(or purchasers preferred method) but I'll be willing to work with anyone interested And in separate ebay auctions, I am also selling the 275 or so Duo-Art rolls that I have collected for this piano. So if you need or want it all........here it is, check out my other listings!   Thanks for looking.....and Good Luck!
