This is a great set up for the owners of STUDER 169 or 269 mixers, which feature direct unbalanced outs on every channel. This unit will change these to balanced, so that you can run long cables in your studio without adding noise and frequency deviations due to unbalanced connections. This also works with any mixer where there is need for high quality balanced connections. We can also offer this unit without the three preamps as we can replace them with extra balancing units for total of 18 I/O on XLR connectors. Very rare to find STUDER 4U multichannel enclosure with 6 stereo (12 mono) balancing cards and 3 mono solid state balanced mic preamps with 72db stepped gain and 14dB extra variable gain (that is 86dB total - how about those old ribbon mics you have in your closet). These preamps are super quiet with extended headroom and sound noticeably better than MIllennia for example. This is professional quality gear, fully tested and has been maintained in non smoking environment. Currently each line card is $250 (there are six in this unit), mic pre cards are around $500 each (there are three in this unit), plus extra EQ filter board (we never used it), 220V PSU, and all the wiring and soldering - this is many hours of work folks, plus all the parts and enclosure! Our price for the whole set up is reasonable. The line amps have 50db of gain also - they transfer between unbalanced and balanced signals and can be used as DI as well (direct inputs).
